Toronto FC vs. Colorado Rapids

TFC Logo150 vs.

A big game for both teams this afternoon as they’re both suffring from recent slides down the table.  TFC’s last meeting against Colorodo was a 3-1 win at BMO June 14th (the clubs last win in fact).

1st half:

We’re seeing the depths of the TFC roster being tested today.  With Laurent Robert out with injury I can just say thank god Ibby is back so that we can use Smith on the wing instead of up front.  Nana Attakora-Gyan continue’s to impress with solid marking and good passing.  With a little more developement I can see this guy breaking the starting XI permanently after Marshall packs it in.

Speaking of Marshall, our back line looks to be in even bigger trouble.  After seeing him go off with injury Robinson has dropped back to center defender to accomodate Tyler Roselund coming on a midfield.  Strange stuff, but if it works, I won’t complain.

How about that Barrett goal?

I figured Ricketts would have been taking free kicks but so far we’ve seen Brennan take an attempt followed by a clinic by Chad Barrett on how to tuck the ball in the far post.2nd half running commentary:

  • Colorado has come out firing, good pressure by them but so far nothing has challenged Sutton
  • What a mess with that indirect free kick on the 6 yard line, how do you not convert that?  Once again what a strange game
  • Colin Clark is a thug.  That hit on Attakora-Gyan was totally out of line. If that doesn’t get a suspension then Guevara’s should be nullified

  • Red card for Clark, could this be our 2nd road win??  *knock on wood*
  • Ricketts out with hamstring, Gala in.  Wow, just…wow
  • Bad foul by Robo outside our box, not sure if it was a card but I won’t argue
  • Dichio in for Barrett at 82, booked 2 mintues later
  • Colorado still look strong a man down
  • Longest injury time ever, rev looks at his watch after 6:10, still doesnt blow

AND THE VICTORY!  Good effort by Carver and the boys.  The Rapids came out firing with 21 shots and 10 on target.  Cheers to Sutton for keeping the clean sheet.  He and Robinson can share man of the match IMO.
