TFC fall 2-0 to NYRB

The opening half was difficult to watch. Toronto could not string more than one pass together without losing possession. You really notice the difference in the team without having Amando Guevara. The reds didn’t look so hot defensively either as the entire back line was caught on their heels multiple times. You have to wonder why John Carver insists on punishing players for serving international call ups. As much as I’m a fan of the budding talent that is Attakora-Gyan, if a player like Marvell Wynne is available, you should use him.

Mike Magee eventually took the lead for NYRB in the 37th directing a well placed pass by Seth Stammler past Greg Sutton.

The second half was even tougher. Danny Dichio came on for all of two minutes before going off again after a vicious elbow to the head. No word yet on what the implications of this is with regards to his previous concussion. The incident resulted in Gabriel Cichero being sent off Toronto having a man advantage from the 49th minute on.

Johann Smith made a few nice runs in his debut but ultimately TFC didn’t have enough to even the scoreline.

Pushing forward in injury time, TFC we’re caught off guard again as some fine passing by Dane Richards and Jorge Rojas led to a Juan Pablo Angel goal.

The 2-0 result really does reflect what TFC put into this match. The team is going through a lot of changes but not enough to justify such a weak performance against a 10 man Red Bulls squad.

Toronto FC now fall to last place with KC in the Eastern conference.
