Toronto 0, KC 2

TFC Logo150 vs

Although I missed the first half of the match, I feel like I endured the full 90 minutes of TFC’s loss.  The stats alone sum up the deflating feeling with Kansas firing 14 shots with 5 on target compared to our 3 shots with none on target.  The loss marked the beginning of the end of the 2008 campaign.  Regardless of clever mathematics if we can’t put up a goal against a team like Kansas City then our squad needs a lot of work to compete in this league.

Ruiz was none existent for the most part of the game.  Having only registered one shot in 234 minutes for TFC so far, I’m beginning to wonder if he is like his predecessor Jeff Cunningham.  Ruiz has an impressive tally of career goals (59 at CSD Municipal and 82 MLS) but is not on a sharp decline.  His achievements are for the most part behind him and Toronto FC will be just a footnote in his career.

Speaking past their prime, our defenders are not getting off the hook either.  Tyrone Marshall is not worth $140000, he is an aging thug with at best mediocre marking.  Between him and Velez at CB, we never stood a chance.  These last five matches are for pride, and after that we can start speculating that Paul Stalteri is coming home.
